The Materials and Quantum Phenomena Laboratory (MPQ) is a Joint Research Unit (UMR 7162) of the French National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS) and the Université Paris Cité. MPQ lab specialises in the study of quantum frontier materials and the development of innovative quantum devices.
These activities are based on a broad spectrum of theoretical and experimental skills, combining materials physics, transport and optics, as well as clean room, spectroscopy and high-resolution electron microscopy technology platforms.
The research activities of THEORIE Team are devoted to the theoretical study of strongly correlated quantum materials, equilibrium and non-equilibrium many-body physics, critical phenomena, quantum optics, transport and quantum information. State-of-the-art theoretical techniques are developed and applied in order to explore fundamental physics and also to investigate quantum device functionalities.
Key people on the project

Christophe Mora, PI of Université Paris Cité, is the Head of the MPQ Group.
He graduated from Ecole Normale Supérieure Paris in 2001 and obtained his PhD degree in 2004. After a postdoc at the University Heinrich-Heine of Düsseldorf, he became Assistant Professor in Pierre Aigrain’s Lab at Ecole Normale Supérieure, then to start his lab in 2019 at Université Paris Cité. Christophe has authored more than 65 publications and was awarded Member of the Institut Universitaire de France in 2014.
